Pang Ka-ho




Jordan Pang Ka-ho is a Hong Kong District Councillor, student leader and pro-democracy camp activist. In 2019, whilst a university student, he defeated the incumbent pro-Beijing politician and became the District Councillor of Central and Western District Council, making him the second youngest District Councillor in Hong Kong's history.

Early life and education

Pang studies politics and public administration at the University of Hong Kong. In 2019, he briefly served as the acting Vice-president of the Hong Kong University Students' Union. He later became the acting chairperson of the Current Affairs Committee.

Political career

In 2019, Pang participated the anti-extradition bill and pro-democracy protests. At the time he claimed he received multiple death threats against him via Facebook and Telegram, and his family received threatening phone-calls.
In the 2019 local elections, Pang, a 21-year-old fourth-year university student, ran for Central and Western District Council's Sai Wan constituency, a seat held by Horace Cheung, who had held the seat since 2011, the vice-chairman of Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong, and serves on the Legislative Council and Executive Council, also referred as "triple councillor". Pang won the election by nearly 800 votes, making him the second youngest District Councillor in Hong Kong's history. The youngest, :zh:潘朗聰|Roy Pun, is three months younger than Pang. On the result of the election, Pang said it was mainly due to the protests and there was "still a long road ahead." He said his goal is still "five demands, not one less", a slogan of the protests, referring to the demands of the protestors. He also promised to focus on local issues, and hold regular forums.
Pang was a member of the Victoria Social Association. He left the group in 2020, shortly before the national security law was enacted, and soon after that the group disbanded, also because of the new law.
