Pradeep Maharathy is the son of Late Gokulananda Maharathy, born in Pipili, Khorapada, Puri. He is married to Prativa Maharathy. The couple have a son named Rudra Pratap Maharathy and a daughter Pallavi Maharathy. Rudra has completed his B.Tech and M.B.A, Pallavi is a Doctor with specialization in Pediatrics.
Political career
He started his political career as a student leader in SCS college, Puri. For the first time in 1985 he was elected as the MLA from Pipili Constituency, Odisha. He was then a member of Janata Party. He has been elected as a legislature for seven times.
