Saiful Apek

Mohd Saifulazam bin Mohammad Yusoff, better known by his stage name Saiful Apek, is a Malaysian actor and comedian.

Early life

Saifulazam was born in Gombak, Selangor on 12 May 1969. His birth certificate however has his birth registered on 15 August 1969. This was due to his family having to temporarily give him to another family due to the chaos of the 13 May Incident, in which the adopted family would register him later after the riots were over. He would eventually be reunited with his birth family when he was 21. He is the first born of 7 children.

Career

Saifulazam's talent was discovered through the first season of Sinaran Pasport Kegemilangan aired on TV3 in 1994. He adopted the stage name Saiful Apek when he became a host of the channel's popular entertainment show, Melodi with Fauziah Ahmad Daud. The word "Apek" is Malaysian Chinese slang for an old man: he often plays a caricature of himself wearing Chinese clothes and speaking heavily Chinese accented Malay. Saiful would later join the sketch comedy troupe Senario from 1998 to 2002, also using this stage name.
He owns his production company, Gitu-Gitu Production Sdn Bhd and has been named as the Most Popular Star on Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian 2003.
He married Roslina Abu Hassan on 11 June 1994 and have two sons together, Mohd Riyadh Aslam and Mohd Radzin Aiman.
