Thane Metro
The Thane Metro is a mass transit project for the city of Thane, Maharashtra, India. It will feature 22 stations along a route and will be connected to lines 4 and 5 of the Mumbai Metro. The project will be implemented by the Thane Municipal Corporation and the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation.It received Cabinet approval on 6 March 2019 by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The system will take 4-5 years to build at a cost of. ₹13,095 crore. The cost of the tickets will vary from ₹17 to ₹104. The roofs of the metro stations are planned to be fitted with solar panels, which will provide upto 65% of the electricity requirements for the system.

Status
Work on this system was not intended to start before the completion of Line 4 as the construction of two large scale projects would lead to severe congestion.There have been reports that the metro maybe scrapped to make for a high speed tram system.
