William Dietz (politician)
William Dietz was an American farmer and politician from New York.Life
He attended the district schools and engaged in agricultural pursuits. He was Town Clerk of Schoharie and Supervisor of Schoharie County. He was a colonel of the State Militia. He was a member of the New York State Assembly in 1814, 1814–15 and 1823.
Dietz was elected as a Jacksonian to the 19th United States Congress, holding office from March 4, 1825, to March 3, 1827.
He was a member of the New York State Senate from 1830 to 1833, sitting in the 53rd, 54th, 55th and 56th New York State Legislatures. He was a presidential elector in 1832, voting for Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren.
He was County Superintendent of the Poor from 1834 to 1835.
He was buried at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Schoharie.
