Nadia Ahmad Samdin


Nadia Ahmad Samdin is a politician and lawyer from Singapore. A member of the country's governing People's Action Party, she is the Member of Parliament in the Ang Mo Kio Group Representation Constituency in the 14th Parliament of Singapore.

Early life and education

Nadia was a student at CHIJ Katong Convent and Victoria Junior College. She graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from Singapore Management University. To recognise her achievements and contributions made to the community, she was presented the SMU Alumni Rising Star Award in 2015 by her alma mater.

Career

Nadia was formerly a current affairs producer for Mediacorp's news network, Channel NewsAsia. She is an Associate Director at TSMP Law Corporation where she first worked as an intern. She is part of the firm's corporate transactional team, specialising in mergers and acquisitions.

Political career

Nadia was fielded in 2020 Singaporean general election to contest in Ang Mo Kio Group Representation Constituency on People's Action Party's ticket against Reform Party. Nadia’s running mates are Lee Hsien Loong, Darryl David, Gan Thiam Poh, Ng Ling Ling. On 11 July 2020, Nadia and team were declared to be elected to represent Ang Mo Kio GRC in the 14th Parliament of Singapore, garnering 71.91% of the valid votes.

Community service

As a veteran community service volunteer, Nadia has served several charitable organisations and boards. Aside from being the youngest district councillor in the South East Community Development Council, she also serves as a Panel Advisor in Youth Court. In 2018, she was selected as a delegate member to attend the G20 meeting for youth leaders held in Cordoba, Argentina.
Nadia holds key positions in the National Youth Council and the Singapore Council of Women's Organisations, and is a board member of Prophet Muhammad's Birthday Memorial Scholarship Fund Board as well as the Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Nadia set up the Lembaga Biasiswa Kenangan Maulud Top-up Fund in 2019, an initiative to cover the monthly cost of transportation for students whose family are facing financial difficulties.
As a recreational diver, Nadia engages in regular marine cleanup excursions off the shores of Singapore, as well as sustainability and outreach events with non-governmental organization, Our Singapore Reefs.
Nadia also volunteers for causes supporting ex-offenders, youths at risk, teenagers living in rental flats, and vulnerable women and children.
